How much do I love my son? Well... yesterday I went to the market to purchase party hats, napkins, plates, toys, treats and a cake for our border terrier, Jazzy, for her birthday.
Aaron Ty wanted to make sure Jazzy had a birthday party, so we did.
The Jazzy story is a common one amongst dog owners, I'm sure.
Two years ago, my wife called and said she was bringing home a puppy that had been abandoned at work. I said, no.
Two phone calls later, she was named Jazzy because she reminded Kim of the tiger in Aladdin, but being female, Jasmine was chosen. This worked for me because one my favorite Disney animated film is Aladdin and, of course, I love jazz.
The plan was, as all stray dog plans always is, to keep her for a few days until a permanent home can be found. But little did we know our little Jazzy was a con artist.
She spent those first days laying either on my lap or on a blanket next to me. She was sweet and loving and quiet. The perfect small dog for a one child family. So we made the decision to keep her. Jazzy was now a part of the family.
The the REAL Jazzy appeared. Jazz the Spazz sprung to life almost immediately after we made the announcement that she could stay. That's all she was waiting for obviously.
Now our loving puppy is two years old and her personality is fully formed. She hates other people. She spazzes and runs through the house like a wild woman when you get her worked up. She barks at anything that moves or makes sounds anywhere in her domain (which is anywhere she can hear or see). This is the true Jazzy.
Aaron Ty kept asking when her birthday was, so we chose April 1st - April Fool's Day. Quite appropriately, I think, as we are obviously the April Fools.
But we love her. Aaron Ty loves to play, tease and torture her (e.g., putting a cape or hat on her). She has always had her own Christmas stocking on the mantle. And now, she's had a birthday party at Aaron Ty's insistance.
How much do I love my son? Happy Birthday, Jazzy! Need I say more?
