Catching up

I realize it's been a while since I really posted an update on Aaron Ty, so I'll make up for that now.

His surgery went well. They did remove his adenoids and he now has tubes in both ears. The follow-up showed that his hearing has improved, so now when he doesn't answer or obey, he's just being obstinate.

He was a real little trooper that day, too. It has to be one of the most difficult feelings in the world to have a nurse take your little one away and knowing that you're not allowed to be there when he needs you the most. I personally felt helpless, miserable and probably a bit grumpy while sitting in the waiting room. I tried to concentrate on a book while the TV droned on incessantly with Regis & Kelly.

It was only about 25 minutes before they came to get us, but it seemed like hours (especially having to be inundated with Regis & Kelly). When we went back to see him, a nurse was holding him and I immediately sat down and she gave him to me. The poor little guy was almost limp from the anesthesia and just laid his head against my chest and held on tight.

We kept him home the next couple days just to make sure he would be ok, and he was. Since then he's not been sick (fingers crossed and hope I didn't just jinx him).

School is still going well, actually getting better. They separated the four and five year olds at one point and he really enjoyed his new class and his new teacher, especially after they got some new toys. Then they kept having to put him into the five year old class as his teacher had some health issues. He didn't like that for some reason and almost cried when we would get there and then find out.

Then they moved him permanently into the five year old class since he'll be five in December. This was a bit traumatic for him, too. He was so happy when his best friend Ian was put into the four year old class with him and now he has been pulled out and put into another class. However, now he has a new teacher, Miss Jenny, and he seems to really like her. Ah, the ups and downs of school.

Well, that's about it for now.
