Father's Day Scrappers game

For Father's Day this year, the our local Cleveland Indians "A" league affiliate, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, opened their season at home - and Aaron Ty and I went. The big giveaway for Saturday's game was this awesome Scrappers jersey and free pizza, chips and soda for the kids. The jersey goes perfectly with the Scrappers cap that Aaron Ty got last season and he looks like he's ready to take the field.

Aaron went down the big slide at least half a dozen times and bounced in the giant bouncer twice before we got our food and took our seats. I got Aaron Ty a hotdog, while I ate his pizza. Then we watched as the Scrappers took it right to the Jamestown Jammers, the Florida Marlins' affiliate, taking a 6-0 lead in the first inning.

Aaron Ty said he wanted the Scrappers to beat the Jammers because of what the Marlins did to our Tribe in the World Series back in '97 (three years before he was born). His baseball history is amazing. ;)

The rains came after the fourth inning, but we had a good time regardless. Aaron Ty had predicted the final score would be Scrappers 12 Jammers 10. He got it half right. The good guys won 12-2, but really I won since my son was actually interested in the game for the first time and asked all kinds of questions about what was going on and kept track of the balls and strikes.

In addition to the game, he also helped his mother make my favorite dessert, banana pudding, and picked out an awesome "#1 Dad" shirt - in blue, of course, as it's my favorite color. I also, took full advantage of the holiday by requesting multiple hugs and kisses. :)

Thank you, little buddy!

And here's the slide show ...
