Bowling, Bakugan and Bayley

What a fantastic weekend Aaron Ty and Dad had! First, after picking Aaron Ty up from school on Friday, we got homework done which included a small newspaper he had to read and answer questions about. He answered everything and completed the back page crossword. His reading comprehension skills are better than some adults I know. Then it was time to start playing.

He jumped right on the computer to try a new game called Aztec Tribe, which is a "gathering resources" game that he quickly figured out and then began explaining it to me. Next he was excited to have Spore with the new Creepy & Cute add-on pack installed and ready to go. His imagination and ingenuity in creating creatures, buildings and vehicles in Spore never ceases to amaze me.

We had breakfast food for dinner and played some more before packing it in for the night in preparation of a busy Saturday. And busy it was ...

After breakfast, we met a good friend of mine from work and her 8-year old daughter, Bayley at our place. We all went bowling, something which we had not done in at least a couple of years. Aaron Ty amazingly bowled an 88! For an 8-year old that hasn't touched a bowling ball since he was six, that was fantastic! In addition to having a great time, the guys did beat the girls, so everything was right with the world in that department.

We then went and picked up Aaron's favorite pizza, went back to our place to eat and then began the playing. Aaron and Bayley both like Bakugan, so Aaron had brought his over for them to play with. I don't think they ever actually played by any rules other than their own, but boy did those Bakugan get all over the apartment. There was also the traditional "let's wrestle and tickle Dad" time (for which I am still sore after). Talk about good exercise, try dragging an 8-year old on each leg across a room! But fear not, no one was left untickled.

After Bayley left (following a very nice hug for each of us), we settled into our routine of computer playing, pretend games and iPhone playing including Half-Life 2, WoW, Haunted Roller Coaster, School Tycoon, Mall Tycoon and more that I can't even remember. We had a yummy dinner of baked chicken & noodles thrown in for good measure (and to keep our strength up).

We finished our evening with movie night & popcorn. Our feature attraction this week was Monsters vs. Aliens, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We were laughing outloud several times and both were rivoted the entire time.

It was a fabulous weekend that had to end far too soon on Sunday morning, but the smiles I saw from that little boy (and from Bayley) before I left will keep me going until I see him again on Thursday.
