While waiting for a video to rewind, I switched the channel to CNN's Headline News where they were talking about Hurricane Wilma. Aaron was sitting with me and watching along, then asked some questions.
We had talked about the Hurricane Katrina and they had discussed it in school in well, so he had an idea of the impact of these storms on people and their lives. He said he didn't want a hurricane to hit us and I explained that while we may feel the affects of a hurricane, they mostly affect places close to the ocean.
The next thing I know he's on his play phone calling his "friend". This is part of the conversation I heard.
"Saji [that's his invisible friend], we have a problem. There's another hurricane coming somewhere in the United States of America. It's not in this state, but in another state ..."
We've had talks about war as well from him seeing people on television crying about their loved ones heading off to Iraq. The grasp a child has on reality and his surroundings and the things that happen in the world simply amaze me.
