Today, Gigi the Giraffe took center stage as we learned about how we "Love God". Our Bible lesson was about Jesus rising from the tomb.
For some reason, the company that publishes the VBS materials we use makes Thursday's Bible Exploration rather dark. Last year, for example, the kids were brought in to meet a prisoner who was to sentenced to death and was to tell them that they were all going to die tomorrow. This year, while not quite as gruesome, it was a bit scary for some, even though, as I did last year, I had lightened it.
The kids came into the Garden of Gethsemane not long after Jesus was discovered missing. I was the gardener and needed their help to solve the mystery of how the tomb had become unsealed. They went into the tomb to look for clues, which, at first, was a bit spooky for some, but they all did a fine job of finding all the clues.
Then they got to witness Mary Magdalene and Jesus meeting in the Garden.
Unfortunately, Aaron Ty had to miss this one as he was home with a bit of a stomach virus, but hopefully, he'll be better tomorrow and able to attend the finale and picnic.
