VBS - Day 5

Serengeti Trek

Lug the Elephant helped us with tonight's Bible Point which was "Work for God". Today the kids learned again how working for God can have consequences as it did for Paul and Silas. Paul and Silas were working for God when they were not only telling people in Phillipi about Jesus, but when they came to the aid of a slave woman who needed help. The slave's owner turned the duo in and Paul and Silas were put into jail.

The kids were given a bit of a mental picture of what it was like for Paul and Silas in jail, and then as the walls came tumbling down from an earthquake, they also made the decision to stay put in jail as they promised the jailer they would.

After today's classes, the kids were treated to a picnic (indoors due to inclement weather) which included more music and fun.

Aaron Ty was feeling better and went to VBS tonight, however, due to a scheduling mix up, his crew didn't get to come into my class to hear my story and his was upset and didn't want to go to the picnic. So he and I came home and played and talked about it anyway.

Overall he enjoyed his week at VBS, but I think both Kim and I are glad the week is over and we can get back to our normal evening routines. It was fun and the kids really seemed to learn a lot and, hopefully, I gave them something to think about at least during the final day.

It's something we should all learn. Regardless of politics, peer pressure, or unpopularity if we choose to work for God, we should do so and remain constant, unflinching and unafraid of the consequences.

Amen
